Golden Globes 2017 Trends

The 74th annual Golden Globes Awards was broadcast live on January 8, 2017, kicking off this years awards season. The Golden Globe Awards set the pace for red-carpet fashion trends as it as seen as an indicator for future awards shows.  The stars didn’t shy away from making daring fashion statements, and for that we’re grateful. Some common trends of the night included plunging necklines, shoulder cutouts, sequin embellishment, silver sparkles, and lots of yellow and pink. There was actually quite a bit of twinning going on. Sofia Vergara and Priyanka Chopra wore extremely similar curve-friendly Ralph Lauren and Zuhair Murad Couture dresses as gold was a popular choice amongst many women. Connie Britton (in Edition by Georges Chakra), Carrie Underwood (in Iris Serban), Zoe Saldana and Felicity Jones (both in Gucci) were some of those who went ultra princess chic for the night, as did Claire Foy, Ryan Michelle Bathe, Lola Kirke and Angela Bassett. Yellow was also a common theme for some women including Reese Witherspoon (in custom Atelier Versace), Emily Ratajkowski (in Reem Acra),Viola Davis (in Michael Kors), and Natalie Portman (in Prada). The 2017 Golden Globes Awards was a night full of fashion surprises, but I think it’s safe to say that there were no huge misses this year! Let’s hope the next awards show of the year is full of even more fun risks that pay off greatly. Can’t wait for the next red carpet! -ED1280t_priyanka_chopra_sofia_vergara_split.jpg1280_yellow_goldenglobes_getty1280_pink_goldenglobes_getty
